The average listing price for homes for sale in Athens GA was $231,465 for the week ending May 27, which was unchanged compared to the prior week.” This means that only 9.9% of the Athens market is in a foreclosure state. This is a trend that I have noticed for weeks now in that foreclosures or the real estate owned (by banks) stage of the foreclosure process has consistently been 8-10% in the Athens area.
Most popular expensive zip code in town was again the 30606 zip. Prices here have increased to a median list price of $274,149.
In Oconee County, GA the Bishop zip code of 30621 had the highest median list last week of any Oconee zip at $451,311 while the Farmington zip code of 30638 had the easiest ticket into Oconee at a median list price of $304,900.
According to Trulia, there are currently 1067 resale and new homes in Oconee County, GA on Trulia, including 78 homes in the pre-foreclosure, auction, or bank-owned stages of the foreclosure process. This represents an approxmiate 7.3% of homes listed on the market for sale.
In comparison, in Atlanta homes in the pre-foreclosure, auction, or bank-owned stages of the foreclosure process were 46.5% of homes listed on Trulia for sale.
