images1Where do we stand?  How does the local Greater Athens market compare to these gargantuan figures?  According to Trulia Athens has 1,920 listings on the market for sale and only 269 of these are foreclosures.

The information is interesting whether you are buying, selling, or are simply a curious homeowner who wants to keep up with the market.   If you live in Athens, to put this fully in perspective, we have in our inventory for sale one of the lower foreclosure percentages in terms of REO’s or foreclosure bank re-sales anywhere.  With foreclosures about only 13 percent of our overall listing inventory this is a low number in comparison to Atlanta, Winder, Gainesville, and Jefferson which are still flooded with foreclosure resales at the tune of about 2 out of 5 homes for sale or better.  These high levels of foreclosure REO’s are continuing to deflate prices in those cities while our median and average home prices have maintained over the past year.
